Grading Policy

20.S947 is meant to be a fun laid-back course where you learn to make 3D scientific artwork without any of the stress of a full course. There are no exams or homework.

Pre-requisites

There are no pre-requesites! We will start from the must basic concepts of 3D rendering in Blender. However, all lectures will be posted on YouTube if the pace feels too fast.

From beginner to expert in one week (Room 56-154).

  • Jan 18, 2022 - 10:30-11:30AM

    The 3D Viewport and Lighting

    The first class will focus on navigating the 3D viewport, while exploring the basics of lighting. By the end of class, you will have made your first full render!

  • Jan 23, 2022 - 10:30-11:30AM

    Scene Composition

    In this class, we will draw from the previous class and compose and render a 3D biological scene as if it were a journal cover.

  • Jan 25, 2022 - 10:30-11:30AM

    Movies and Animations

    In this final class, we will render a movie of two proteins binding using cinematic lighting and compositing effects.
